Join the Bench · Senior Operators Only

If you’ve held the role, carried the number, and delivered the outcome.

Grant & Graham is a working bench of senior consultants, fractional leaders, and interim executives — not a recruitment agency. If you’ve already done the job at scale and want a network doing the commercial work around you, read on.

Who We’re Looking For

The bar, plainly stated.

We back seasoned operators. That means people who've already held C-suite or senior director roles, delivered commercial outcomes under pressure, and are now choosing interim, fractional, or advisory work as their primary model.

01

Senior role, served.

Ten-plus years at director or C-suite level in a meaningful organisation. We’re not the right home for career pivoters or aspiring senior people.

02

Sector depth, not breadth.

You bring credible domain experience — FinTech, SaaS, Telecom, Aerospace, Retail, Healthcare, Energy, or similar. Breadth is welcome; shallow everywhere is not.

03

Operator, not observer.

Your track record is outcomes, not slide decks. Revenue figures, transformations delivered, teams led. You can tell the story in numbers.

04

Independent and insured.

You have or can set up a personal service company, VAT registration where applicable, and professional indemnity insurance. We help if you’re close but not fully set up.

05

Geographically serious.

You’re established in at least one of the UK, Netherlands, wider EU, US, or MEA markets — with the right to work there and a willingness to travel for meaningful mandates.

06

Partner-ready in tone.

You can hold a boardroom conversation, write plainly, disagree constructively, and represent Grant & Graham well to clients without hand-holding.

What You Actually Get

Six practical reasons to join the bench.

Not a benefits list. A description of what changes in a senior consultant’s working life when they work with Grant & Graham rather than purely solo.

Active deal flow

A working commercial engine: new business development, client acquisition, sales sequences, and an inbound pipeline feeding live mandates. You don’t have to source every engagement yourself.

Back-office relief

Client contracting, SoW drafting, NDA handling, invoicing, VAT and cross-border tax handling, payment chasing. You focus on the work; we handle the administration that eats independent consultants alive.

Brand association

Represent a global consultancy with 17 years of track record and a recognisable name. Show up on G&G letterhead and in G&G marketing. Matters more than most independents admit.

A peer network of 47

Access to a bench of senior operators across seventeen countries. Co-delivery on larger mandates, sector-specific sounding boards, and WhatsApp-distance introductions when you need them.

Cross-border access

Legal entities in the UK, Netherlands, and US, plus regional coverage in the Middle East. Mandates in markets your solo practice can’t invoice into.

Co-delivery model

Scale into engagements bigger than any one person could run alone — transformation programmes, multi-workstream PMOs, GaaS retainers — with G&G providing the additional senior hands.

How the Commercial Model Works

No hand-waving on rates. Six plain principles.

Senior consultants evaluating a bench want straight answers on the commercial terms. Here’s how we do it.

01 Rates
You quote your own day rate. We pass it on to the client with a transparent Grant & Graham margin agreed with you in writing before any engagement. No surprise markups, no undercutting you in market.
02 Client ownership
Engagements sourced by Grant & Graham sit under our client agreement; engagements you bring remain yours. Your book stays your book.
03 Exclusivity
Never required. Work with other firms, run your own direct practice, list on other benches. The only restriction is during an active G&G engagement with a specific client.
04 Invoicing & payment
We invoice the client, chase payment, and remit you net 14 from client receipt. Multi-currency: GBP, EUR, USD, or AED. Cross-border tax handling and VAT mechanics managed by us.
05 Contracting
Master consultant agreement signed once; individual engagement letters scoped per mandate. NDAs, IP clauses, and sector-specific compliance handled by G&G counsel.
06 Termination
Your agreement with Grant & Graham can be ended at any time with 30 days’ notice after any active engagement. We never hold consultants hostage. The model only works when it works for both sides.

What We Won’t Pretend

The honest counterweight to the pitch.

Every recruitment page tells you how great the firm is. Here’s the other side — the things we won’t pretend about Grant & Graham.

We’re not a staffing agency.

We don’t have ten live briefs per week. Engagements come when they come, and we’re selective on which ones we take. This is a bench for seasoned people who also run their own practice.

We can’t guarantee volume.

Consultants on our bench average engagements that suit their capacity — but we won’t promise a specific number per quarter or per year. Anyone who does is lying to you.

We don’t carry junior profiles.

We’re not the right bench for people building their first independent practice or career-switching into consultancy. The quality bar is intentionally high and well-understood by our clients.

We won’t sell you on joining.

If the fit isn’t there — wrong sector, wrong geography, wrong stage — we’ll say so in the first call. We don’t add people to a bench they won’t get work from.

Frequently Asked

Straight answers for senior applicants.

How long until my first engagement?
Typically 30–90 days after bench admission, though it can be faster if your profile matches a live brief already in the pipeline. We won’t pretend it’s guaranteed — engagements happen when they happen, and we’d rather place you on the right mandate than a fast one.
Can I keep my own direct clients?
Yes, completely. Engagements you source independently stay under your own arrangement. Engagements sourced through Grant & Graham sit under our client agreement. Your book stays your book. We never ask consultants to route existing clients through us.
What’s the commercial split?
Agreed in writing before every engagement. The model is: you set your day rate, we add a transparent Grant & Graham margin, both sides sign off before the client quote goes out. The percentage varies by client, engagement complexity, and whether we’re running delivery admin. Specific numbers are discussed in the introductory call — we don’t publish ranges because the context matters too much.
Do you require exclusivity?
No — not on the master agreement, and not on your practice as a whole. You can work with other firms, other benches, and your own direct clients. The only exclusivity is within a specific active engagement with a specific client, which is standard practice.
Do you handle my tax, IR35, VAT, and cross-border invoicing?
Yes. UK engagements route through our UK entity (IR35 handled accordingly). Dutch and EU engagements route through our Netherlands BV. US engagements route through our San Diego entity. VAT mechanics, cross-border withholding, and currency are all handled on our side — you receive a net payment in your invoicing currency.
What happens if engagements slow down?
You’re not an employee, so there’s no retainer or minimum guarantee. During quieter periods, you work on your own direct clients or other benches. We stay in contact through quarterly check-ins and send you live briefs as they come in. If the fit is still right, you stay on. If it stops working for either side, either side can end the master agreement with 30 days’ notice.
Do I need to be based in the UK or the Netherlands?
No. We have active consultants in seventeen countries across Europe, the US, MEA, and APAC. You need to be established as an independent consultant in your home market with the right to invoice us from there, plus willing to travel for meaningful mandates.
Can I co-deliver engagements with other G&G consultants?
Often, yes. Larger mandates — transformation programmes, multi-workstream PMOs, GaaS engagements — are usually staffed with two or more of us. Co-delivery is one of the real advantages of the bench: you can take on work that a solo practice couldn’t confidently scope.
